Stem Cell Therapy

These are cells that exist in the body, and have the ability to regenerate damaged tissue and promote healing and repair injuries.

How Do They Work

Stem Cells are something called progenitor cells. These are cells that have the potential to turn into any cell in the body. When combined with a persons platelets and re-introduced into an area of tissue damage, these cells can promote healing, reduce inflammation, and reduce pain.

Why Choose Cleveland Stem Cell?

We are experts in the field and have performed over 100 Regenerative Medicine treatments to date. Our chief Medical officer, Dr. Adam J. Hedaya MD has over 15 years of experience and is Double Board Certified. He trained at Georgetown University Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He has established multiple practices through the state of Ohio, over the last 10 years. And has been recognized by patients, colleagues, and administrators as an outstanding physician.

Meet Your Doctor:

The 1st step is to schedule an appointment for an evaluation by one of our Physicians. At this appointment be prepared to review and discuss your entire medical history. During this evaluation you and your highly trained Board Certified Physician will discuss if Stem Cell therapy and Regenerative Medicine is an appropriate course of treatment and option for you. The process will be discussed and a plan of care will ensue.

Procedure Day:

On the day of your treatment, you will need a driver, as some light sedation will be provided. You will also need to hold all blood thinners for 5-7 days prior and any anti-inflammatory medications for at least two weeks. It is expected that you stop eating at midnight prior to your scheduled treatment. If you have acid reflux or high blood pressure you may take your medication with a small sip of water the morning of your treatment. Upon arrival you will be greeted by one of our nurses and anesthesiologist. An IV will be start to provide some light sedation or “Twilight,” the majority of people find this part of the treatment relaxing. The anesthesia is provided to keep you comfortable for the Stem Cell extraction. At the time the IV is started you may also have your blood drawn as part of the treatment process.

Treatment:

Once you are ready, you will be wheeled back to the procedure suite, for the stem cell harvest. The area is cleaned in a sterile manner. At which point your stem cells are extracted with a small incision and needle. The cells are obtained from the back of your hip using x-ray guidance. This is painless as you are numbed and a sleep. It typically takes only a few minutes to extract your bone marrow and stem cells. Once we have your cells we concentrate them in a sterile fashion using a special machine, known as a centrifuge. This typically takes 20 minutes, at which point they are re-injected into the area of the body to be targeted.

Recovery:

Once the treatment is complete, you are returned to the recovery area. Some people experience some mild discomfort over the hip or where the injection was provided for a day or two. Any mild discomfort typically responds to Tylenol, and alternating Ice and /or heat. Once you have awoken, you will be discharged home and follow up with your doctor in 1 week for re-assessment. The entire process from start to finish takes approximately 1- 2 hours, depending on how many areas you and your physician are targeting.
